Maybe you are already aware, but in case you aren't, the JavaScript Professionals Directory was just launched.
It is similar to the PHP professionals directory in PHPClasses site, except that it is dedicated to list JavaScript professionals available for hiring.
Developers that sign-up there may get JavaScript job offers of their interest. It is a free service. Companies looking for JavaScript developers may also post JavaScript job offers for free. There are already a few jobs posted there.
This is an small notice telling more about what is this initiative.

The PHPClasses site is introducing a new feature that allows class developers to post special articles about their classes which become featured in the main PHP Classes blog.
The idea is to give more visibility to the work of the class developers by exposing to a greater audience certain articles about their classes which may be interesting to users of the site that are not yet users of those classes.
Only certain posts will get the featured article privilege. This posts explains how it works.

The JSClasses site was finally launched. It is based on the PHPClasses site but with the focus of redistributing Object Oriented Programming components written in JavaScript.

127. Single Sign-On authentication using OpenID and other security measures

The authentication of the PHPClasses site users will be changed to work in a separate site. It will use the OpenID protocol, so you do not have to create a new account to access other sites.
This article explains better what this means in practice and how it will affect the site users.
Several new measures were implemented to provide better security to protect user accounts and prevent eventual security exploits. Advice is provided to PHP developers in order to apply similar measures to take better care of the security of their sites.

The PHPClasses site had Web Design 2.0 contest, i.e. a design contest that allowed the users to propose new designs, allowed the users to try the proposed the designs in real pages, and allowed the users vote on their preferred design. Now the winning design is finally being launched.
